Welcome to my Random World

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have fun browsing through things. Im not going to write about anything in particular and I dont promise to be politically correct. Though I sit at a desk and type for work I dont even promise a lack of typos but we can all hope I get that part right...

What I do promise is to just share my life. Interesting or not you will get to read all about it and maybe find something to laugh at or maybe some of my misfortune at times will make you feel better about a bad time you are going through...

What I hope to get out of this is just an account of my life so that when I am 80, gray and maybe finally getting married I wont forget everything that has happened to me.

Im getting forward to reading your comments and thoughts on what I have to say so dont be shy I promise I dont bite, well, not to hard anyway...

Busy few weeks ahead!

So I have been on the job hunt recently and my goodness how frustrating. Seems for every open position there are 100+ applicants so getting your face in front of the potential new boss is hard to come by. I think one of the things that was getting my resume tossed aside was the fact that I have worked from home for the past 4+ years...

In the past any job I have ever interviewed for that I actually wanted I have been offered and this was just very frustrating to know I can do the job that is listed and not even get a call back. That all changed a few weeks ago...

In one week I had 2 interviews both for jobs that I wanted to get. Both part time and able to work around each other as well as my at home work.

That being said I went to interview number 1 and new right away that the decision was going to come down to personality. There were 3 of us that were in the running and the fact that I had them laughing the entire time and just having a good time with things made me feel VERY confident. I got the call that afternoon that the job was mine! YAY ME!! Its a job at the school which is a 5 min walk to my house (and that is if I walk slow) I of course took the job. The pay is amazing and the hours are only 3 a day and I get my summers off as well as all the random days through the year including a Christmas break and Spring break, who can beat that plan. Not to mention it gets my foot in the door in the case that something else might come up. I started there last week and I LOVE IT!! Its been a challenge as we have had someone out sick 3 of the 7 days I have been working there so far, so being short staffed in the kitchen is hard work but so worth it. The ladies I work with are GREAT and I cant see myself leaving there for quite a long time!

The second interview I had came in 2 parts. First I met with the owner and the interview went REALLY well. He told me he was interviewing about 12 ppl and would know by the following day if he wanted me back for a 2nd interview with the office manager. I got the call and went in for the 2nd interview which again went well and once again it was between myself and 2 other people. I thought I was going to get the job but as soon as I told them my hours at the school the vibe changed a bit and I though CRAP I just blew it. This is a part time job as well only 4 hours a day I figured we could sort something out but I got the call that afternoon that they went with someone else but if in the case that person didnt work out would I like them to keep my resume on file to which I said ... of course...

That brings me to yesterday. I get a call from a number I dont know and as always let the call go to VM cuz Im not trying to talk to anyone I dont know. Come to find out it was the office manager at that company saying that the other person didnt work out and would I be willing to take the position? We worked out the hours for the time being and all is well with the world. I start on Wednesday.

Needless to say between 3 jobs and working about 80 hours a week on top of mom duty, baseball games and keeping the house clean I wont be getting much sleep in long doses but I will take what I can get and I feel this is finally the weight of the world easing off my shoulders! It will be a crazy couple of weeks til school is out but in the end I think its going to be everything I have been hoping for over the last year!

There is something to say with not giving up hope and good things come to those who wait...

What is your world looking like? Do you love your job? Are you looking for a new one?

Spring has SPRUNG!

Its finally Spring around here and am finally out of my 'winter funk'! Like alot of ppl I sincerely get in a funk right around January of every year. Christmas is over, its a new year and Im ready to start anew with a fresh outlook for what is to come. Then reality sets in. I notice that work slows down a bit, my checkbook is in the negative from all the Christmas spending and taxes are right around the corner. Working for myself I have to do all my own taxes which of course requires paying in every year so that in itself can give me a headache...

So I started out the year with all these goals one of which was to keep this blog up to date and then in the end I have already failed. Now that the snow seams to FINALLY be gone and my mood is lifting I plan to get back on track. That being said here is the good, bad and the ugly...

THE BAD... (lets get this out of the way)
About a month ago my son was injured at school. In gym they were playing a game called Mat Ball. Apparently this is the new name for kickball or something similar enough to it for it to be explained to me as that. Anyway some kid tripped over the mat and tumbled into my son which in turn bent his knee backward! Now this happened in his 2nd hour class so between about 8:30am and 9:30am. My son isnt one to cry especially in front of people so the fact that when he was 'knocked on his ass' caused him to start crying at school and in the need of ice for the next 3 hours and the fact that the teacher told him he should see the doctor ASAP I am still a bit miffed that not a phone call, email or incident report was made. He proceeded to finish out his day in pain and limping walking through the high school from class to class and then home from school as well. When he returned home his knee was still swollen so off to the doctor we went. Xrays are taken and nothing is broken hes just told to rest... We have hit the doctor 2 times, the 3rd time was 2 weeks later and things were getting progressively worse. He at this point couldnt physically straighten out his leg! So we had an MRI done and were told it is a deep tissue bruise and he needed to see an Ortho Therapist. The Ortho said he sprained his knee and calf muscle but would be fine in 2-4 weeks. Hes doing fine now and is back to playing baseball and riding his bike around chasing girls. So in the end all is well but Im still a bit pissed at the school what IF he had broken or chipped a bone? Anyway end of rant...

The UGLY...
I need to get into an aesthetician and get my eyebrows done! They are a hot mess and doing them myself isnt working anymore I dont have the patience to do them and then end up uneven. Others cant tell but I can and its driving me nutty! Also I had to shop for clothes and I HATE shopping! Yes I know Im a woman I should LOVE shopping but I just dont. Not sure why just never been a fan but not only did I have to shop for clothes which in turn reminds me of another failed attempt to get into shape but I have to shop for WHITE clothes... I need to have some white shirts and pants even and that is never a good look for anyone... Why do I need white clothes? Keep reading Im getting there

The GOOD...
The reason for the white clothing from head to toe.... DRUM ROLL PLEASE**************** (yes those were drum beats) I have a new job! Its only part time and only lasts til the beginning of June but I am soooooooooooo excited. I am working at the school in the lunchroom. Doing dishes and serving food. Yes I know doesnt sound like much fun but really it is! I went in for training today and love it. After working at home for the last 4+ yrs its nice to know there are actual live people out there and the kids were great. All very friendly 'nice to meet you' from many of them today and I cant wait for them to really get to know me. I wont be working it in the summer but I will then go back for September when school starts again and I feel this is only the beginning for things to come! I am still working from home but for now this is picking up some of the slack on things. Like I said it is very part time but it works for me and what I need.

So that was a bit long winded as usual and now that I am going to blog more often you wont have to read such long posts...

What have you been up to since I been gone and what is going on in your world?

Reality TV

Yep I admit it to all of you right here and now... I am a reality TV JUNKIE!

Now I dont get into the Bachelor or even American Idol (unless its the very beginning where all the crazies come out thinking they are the next Whitney Houston) I mean the Reality TV on MTV, VH1 those sorts of shows... Just a small list of what I watch and dont like to admit to include

Shot at Love with Tila Tequila and The Icky Twins
The Real Housewives of Orange County, Atlanta any of them really
Real World
The RW/RR challenges
Brett Michaels needs love
Flava Flav needs love
Charm School
The 2 Coreys
The Hills
The City
Bromance
and so many more that I cant think of right now

Not only do I watch these shows, some of them more religiously than others, I actually get into the mode of thinking I KNOW these ppl and I talk to them through my tv when they do and say stupid things! I know insane right?

I have a love hate relationship with my feelings for these shows but I work from home and cant work in silence so I have the tv on while I work and I just get SUCKED IN...

Shot at Love with Tila Tequila...
Not a fan of her. Checked her out on myspace and think shes just an internet hooker but I couldnt stop watching the foolishness that was her show for not one season but TWO!

Shot at Love with the Icky Twins...
Basically now since Tila wont do a 3rd season after failing to find love the first two times, they now have a set of hot twins looking for love and guess what? They are both bi... So meet a handful of men and a handful of women to play with, kiss, cuddle and have a good time with from one twin to the other to see who each of the girls falls in love with and in the end hope the 'chosen ones' pick them as well... The final episode was tonight and *shudder* they both pick the same guy! Of course he picks one over the other etc etc but my question is how do you date a guy that you know had his tongue down your sisters throat the last time you saw him? I mean really what genious thought this show was good for the emotional well being of these women and how long is the love going to last?

The Real Housewives of whereever...
If they are going to do a show about the REAL HOUSEWIVES why dont they pick a location where all the women WORK in REAL jobs and have REAL issues? I mean seriously this isnt REAL and doesnt portray America well at all!

Brett Michaels, Flava Flav and any other washed up celeb looking for love...
Seriously guys these women arent here to find love they are there to get their mug on tv and the making out with you is just the price they pay for it. I mean really who in their right mind would fall in love with Flav? He has like 80 kids and wheres a clock around his neck and thinks its fashionable! Yall are washed up move on and look for love closer to home or get used to nights alone because honestly you look foolish especially when you are on the 3rd and 4th installments of your 'lookin for love' extravaganza.

The Two Coreys...
Could Coery Haim be a bigger mess? I mean really I tried to like him I tried to want him and Corey Feldman to make a come back but dude the 'whoa is me' crap and the feel sorry for me for what happened to me when I was young doesnt give you free reign to be a jerk to those that are trying to be there for you NOW! Let go of the past, stop lieing to everyone including yourself, stop with the drugs and things would be MUCH better for you!

The Hills...
First I was a Laguna fan but thats gone and not sure I could love it without the whole Kristin/Stephen/Lauren triangle but the Hills now that is some great tv lol Just going to say Spencer you are a JERK in the worst way and good job making Heidi leave all her friends for your sorry lazy self! I cant wait for another season of this one.

The City...
That Olivia chic is a raging snot but I guess that is what happens in NY right? I hope Whitneys show takes off but the sooner she gets rid of Jay the happier I will be. Whit has always been in my eyes a strong woman and after helping Lauren through all her boy problems over the years you would think she could spot a snake a mile away. Dont trust Jay at all not sure what it is but I know Im right.

Bromance...
I only was watching this cuz Brody is hot and there isnt much else on at the time but I missed it so not sure where it sits. I think its HILARIOUS what these men will do to be buddies with someone else they know nothing about but good goin Brody and Frankie and keep on doin what you do.

RW/RR Challenges...
I want the old school competitors back! I want it to be men vs women and I want the womens team to be STACKED! I want Ruthie, Rachel, Coral, Julie,Veronica and KATIE back and in ACTION and I dont want to see anymore of Diem, CT, Kenny, oh and the blonde kid that is Kennys side kick (I cant remember his name right now)(Oh its Evan ~ thanks for regaining my memore) I want more drama and less stupidity! BRING ON THE CHALLENGES and make them an HOUR not 30 minutes!

Like I said am sure there are more than this but you tell me do you watch any of these shows? What are your opinions and what do you watch when you want to feel a bit better about yourself?

I am blessed...

I have the most amazing little man ever! I know every parent says that most of the time right? Lucky for me its actually true. He is such a trooper at times it amazes me...

See today was a long day and by the time I went to sleep this afternoon I had been up for more than 27 hours straight. Now he didnt really know any of that. He knew I had to go out and see a friend this morning but he didnt put the times together. So instead of like most children who come home from school needing this that and the next thing he told me he was home and instead of keeping on at me to get up (I clearly was darn near comotose) he just proceeded to do his homework, make himself something to eat for dinner and then wait until 7pm to ASK me if I wanted to get up yet. Now of course I feel like an AWFUL parent for having him sort himself and everything out including dinner on his own as this isnt something that happens ever! Im a very hands on mom he cant usually breathe wrong without me knowing about it but today he really showed me that he is growing up and can take care of himself if he needs to.

Why was I up for so many hours you ask? A very dear friend of mine had a major surgery today. I know I know, its a routine one day in and out surgery that lasts an entire 2 hours but it is surgery nonetheless and anything can go wrong. She had her wonderful hubby there for her of course and I didnt HAVE to go but I wanted to be there. What if something didnt go right? What if paperwork got shuffled about and instead of having the procedure she went in for she came out with a third eye or something (Hey I have seen it happen on tv lol) but seriously other than needing to sleep I had no reason to NOT be there not to mention though I wouldnt admit it to her I was nervous for her and her hubby as well so I went. Surgery was meant to be at 6.30 so I thought well I will get little man out the door at 7 for school then get myself there by 7.30 sit with her hubby for an hour and wait take a quick look at her and make sure there wasnt a 3rd eye roaming about and be on my way home no later than 11. RIGHT!! I got there about 8 and was thankful that she hadnt been taken to pre-op yet so that I could see her. (This also made her mom happy as I could give her the card from her parents as well as bless her little melon with some holy water before she went in) Now that being said it didnt hit me til after that ... CRAP this is going to take longer than I had anticipated. Oh well shes worth the lack of sleep right? So she is taken back, her hubby and I go get some breakfast (thanks again for feeding me by the way) Nothing better than some runny eggs over heat lamped bacon and cold french toast but hey I was starving and it filled me up. Then it was all a waiting game. She was in pre op by 8.57am and hit post op at 11.07 talk about GREAT timing. Her doctor came out to tell us she was fine and everything went well gave us some pics to look at of what was done. I could have left but I really still wanted to check for that 3rd eye. So I sat and waited and waited and waited I just knew that the minute I left was going to be when they were going to let us back in but by 12.25 I could no longer stay awake. I knew I had about a 20 min drive ahead of me not to mention the chic in the waiting room with her 4 children under the age of 5 that she had no patience for (thats another blog) and I went home... Of course 20 minutes after I left is when the hubby was able to see her but that is just my luck. She is at home and she is resting and doing fine. I know she is in great hands and I will be seeing her Tuesday afternoon. I did call tonight to get an update from another friend that is staying with her tonight and all day tomorrow and I am glad she is blessed to have so many loving people in her life to help her get through all of this.

Today was just a day I realized that I have GREAT friends and a GREAT son. Dont get me wrong I know this is all fact and I am very thankful for those in my life but on days like today it is just extra special to know that no matter what the world throws at you, you are never alone and those closest to you are going to be there for you in ways you didnt expect. My little man has always been a blessing and I always just hoped that I would raise him to be a wonderful young man and though I know hes a great kid today he showed me he IS turning into that man more and more day after day.

So now you tell me who are you thankful for in your life and what was one of 'those moments' that made you see how thankful you are for what you have?

Just Checkin In...

Hey everyone...

I havent blogged in a bit and I have been a busy lady! My son is playing travelling basketball again this year which is great but with junior high comes school sports as well so now not only is he playing travelling ball which consists of practices on Monday and Thursday nights as well as about 2 tournaments a month (this takes up 2 full weekends), he is also at practice 5 days a week immediately after school. He practices til 5pm every night and has games 2 days a week. He loves bball but I have to say it is leaving me totally exhausted. I feel like I am constantly on the go from the minute he gets home. From dinner to homework to practice at nights its all beginning to be a bit much. I knew it would be a busy season but I wasnt expecting all of this and now we are struggling with the task of deciding if he wants to do all of this for baseball as well. He will play school baseball but he isnt sure if he wants to play travelling. Of course it is up to him and what he wants to do and I am sure in the end he will be doing both. That just means I dont get an adult life again til school is out in June and we are down to just finishing out the travelling baseball season. That is what having kids is about though right? I love it more than anything the bit about being a mom I just wish I had more time to enjoy the life that we have instead of feeling worn out non stop.

I am working tons and am thinking of switching up my hours maybe working during the day when normal ppl work so that I am not waking up and having all the chaos of life coming at me as my eyes open. That might help but Im not sure only time will tell.

Anyway, aside from my gripes I did get this last weekend off to relax and do NOTHING! It was GREAT. Little man was up north ice fishing with my dad and family and I stayed home. I slept, I rested, I went shopping with the boyfriend for house stuff for the place he just bought. That was interesting and I realized that for the first time in 12 years we shopped! Not just shopped for random things but stuff for his house. The house he is hopefully going to sell come summer but his house none the less...

So all in all, though my life is crazy busy, I dont sleep much and I relax even less life is GREAT. We are healthy, my son is happy, my bf hasnt irritated me this week and when I look around I realize things could be tons worse...

So when times are crazy and life seems a bit nuts look at your kids, look at your partner and realize life could be a million times worse than it is...

Happiness and Love to you all
